I am absolutely in love with this stunning golden hour family session from this past fall in Maui, Hawaii.
There’s something so beautiful about the way children are just unapologetically themselves.
They run, dance, spin, play… no matter what else is happening. Dusty feet, messy hair, and hands clutching onto the new gems they find – children don’t care about someone taking their photo. They want to keep moving and doing life the only way they know how: being authentically themselves.
That’s what I want to capture for every family and couple I document.
On this beautiful September day in Maui, the Sutherlands packed up the kiddos and met me on the beach for golden hour. Being incredible photographers themselves, Kristy & Joshua know that the most breathtaking images come from those in-between moments. Unprompted, uninterrupted, and beautiful.
For this session we just let the kiddos be as they are and tried to be as minimal as we could with posing and prompting. I wish all family sessions could be as beautiful and authentic as this one!
The sun added the most beautiful golden hue and was the most incredible blanket of warmth. I love Alaska with all my heart, but the Hawaii sun is surely something to be missed!
I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to capture this sweet and beautiful family. If you haven’t seen their work be sure to check out Kristy & Joshua if you ever find yourself in Maui.
Kristy made a special request to document this special time of her tandem breastfeeding. Moments like this are so special but fleeting. I felt so honored to capture this moment in time that will be cherished forever.
If you’re interested in having your family captured this way, send me a message and we’ll make it happen!
