10 Dreamy Wedding Venues in Alaska

(From a Local Photographer’s Perspective)

As an Alaska wedding and elopement photographer, I’ve wandered through mossy forests, stood barefoot on coastal shores, and watched vows unfold beneath mountain peaks. This land holds so many quiet, sacred places to say “I do,” from the misty islands of Southeast to the wildflower valleys of Southcentral Alaska. Whether you’re dreaming of a forest chapel, an oceanside cabin, or a mountain lodge, these Alaska wedding venues offer some of the most beautiful backdrops in the state. Here are ten of my favorite venues across Alaska, with insight into what makes each one so special.

1. Forget Me Not Nursery — Indian, Alaska

This one is pure magic. Nestled in the Chugach foothills, this working greenhouse and nursery bursts with life in the summer—think lush blooms, trailing vines, and towering trees peeking through the glass. It’s the kind of place where light filters in like a dream. I’ve photographed weddings here at Forget Me Not Nursery that felt like a fairytale, especially during golden hour when everything glows.

Best for: Couples who love florals, warmth, and garden whimsy.
Photography Tip: Sunlight through the greenhouse creates the softest, most romantic tones.

Wedding ceremony at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel in Girdwood, Alaska

2. Our Lady of the Snows Chapel — Girdwood, Alaska

Tucked into the forest with views of the surrounding peaks, this quaint little chapel is quiet, reverent, and deeply peaceful. It’s especially lovely in winter, when snow lines the trees and everything feels hushed. I’ve photographed both traditional ceremonies and intimate weddings here. There’s a timeless beauty to Our Lady of the Snows that draws you in.

Best for: Couples looking for sacred tradition in a natural setting.
Photography Tip: The light-filled interior is surprisingly gentle and flattering for ceremony photos.

Bride and groom dancing in front of the Salted Roots Cabins in Seward, Alaska

3. Salted Root Cabins — Seward, Alaska

These waterfront cabins sit right at the edge of Resurrection Bay, offering ocean views, mountain silhouettes, and a deeply cozy, secluded vibe. I love when couples choose to stay the weekend here—it turns the whole wedding into a retreat. Imagine a ceremony under the spruce trees or on the rocky beach, followed by fireside toasts and skipping rocks at sunset. The Salted Root Cabins are forever at the top of my favorites list for Alaska wedding venues.

Best for: Nature-loving couples wanting a slow, meaningful weekend.
Photography Tip: Don’t skip the private beach photos. It’s a perfect moment of stillness with water and sky all around.

Wedding ceremony at Millers Landing in Seward, Alaska

4. Miller’s Landing — Seward, Alaska

A bit more rustic, a lot more wild. Millers Landing sits at the far end of Seward’s Lowell Point and offers both beachfront and forest ceremony options. There’s something grounding about the sound of waves during your vows and the smell of the sea breeze as you walk back down the aisle.

Best for: Adventurous elopements and oceanside ceremonies.
Photography Tip: Early evening is ideal for warm light across the bay. Bonus if you catch the fog rolling in.

Bride and groom kissing at Raven Glacier Lodge in Girdwood, Alaska

5. Raven Glacier Lodge — Girdwood, Alaska

This venue doesn’t have a glacier on site, but it does have an enchanting forest setting, vintage decor, and a serene pond near the ceremony site. The moss, the creek, the ferns at Raven Glacier Lodge make everything feel alive. I photographed a fall wedding here where crisp air mingled with golden florals, and it remains one of my favorite days.

Best for: Forest-loving couples with a taste for rustic charm.
Photography Tip: Use the path near the creek for the most secluded portraits, especially just before dusk.

Bride and groom standing in front of mountains at Majestic Valley Wilderness Lodge in Glacier View, Alaska

6. Majestic Valley Wilderness Lodge — Near Glacier View, Alaska

If you’re craving a panoramic mountain backdrop, Majestic Valley Wilderness Lodge delivers. With endless alpine views and the chance for guests to stay on-site, it’s a wonderful option for destination weddings. The ceremony area overlooks snowcapped peaks that feel straight out of a postcard.

Best for: Full wedding weekends and mountain dreamers.
Photography Tip: Bring a windproof veil. It catches beautifully here, but the breeze is real.

Wedding ceremony at Cusak's on the Kenai in Kenai, Alaska

7. Cusack’s on the Kenai — Soldotna, Alaska

Set along the Kenai River, Cusack’s on the Kenai offers lodge-style lodging, riverside ceremony spots, and rich, woodsy surroundings. It’s a little off the beaten path but full of charm. I’ve photographed couples laughing with their feet in the river and dancing under string lights on the lawn. It’s down-to-earth and heartfelt.

Best for: Couples who want rustic comfort with Alaskan soul.
Photography Tip: Morning river mist adds such an ethereal feel—perfect for early first looks.

10. Shrine of St. Thérèse — Juneau, Alaska

This stone chapel sits on its own tiny island, surrounded by towering evergreens and the wide, open ocean. A long causeway leads you there, almost like a walk into a different world. The sound of waves, the hush of forest, and the sacred quiet inside the Shrine of St. Thérèse chapel create a space that feels holy—whether you’re religious or not. It’s one of the most peaceful and emotionally moving venues in Alaska.

Best for: Intimate, spiritual weddings and couples who feel connected to the sea.
Photography Tip: Plan for portraits on the causeway and by the water. Fog or sunshine, it’s always cinematic.
