This autumn anniversary session with Mary & Aiden is so near and dear to my heart.
Mary & Aiden were one of my very first wedding couples back when I was a wee baby photographer. I’ve been able to work with them many times since then and I always love reconnecting with them. This was our first anniversary session together. We hiked around Arctic Valley and enjoyed all the beautiful green, yellow, orange, and red foliage. There were some blueberries left over from the summer season and little mushrooms sprouting here and there. It was the perfect setting for their photos!
I always do my best to create an environment for feeling and reminisce for my couples.
The more I work with a couple, the better I know their story and how they’ve changed and grown as a couple. As we move throughout the session, I like to provide thought prompts to add to the experience beyond just posing. For Mary & Aiden’s autumn anniversary session, we started with some lighthearted posing and moved into more emotional moments.
Kind words from Mary & Aiden:
“Working with Madelynn has been one of the best and most special experiences of our wedding. Every time my husband and I look at both the wedding, engagement, and anniversary photos Madelynn did for us, we relive all of those beautiful moments and could not be more happy with how she captured the spirit of it all. She is such a kind and badass woman to work with and will help you with anything from choosing the perfect picture location to listening to all of your wedding struggles! Just tell her your vision and give her all the artistic freedom, step back and watch the magic happen. You won’t regret hiring this incredible woman!”
After trapsing around the mountains for a bit, we found a rock to rest on and reflect. I asked Mary & Aiden to sit closely and to think about their wedding day. They pulled each other close and shared with one another the moments from their day that stood out in their mind. I always love to hear which moments come forward in the mind years later.
Finding the perfect mountain view some time later, Mary & Aiden rested in a gentle embrace. I asked them to think over the previous year and all they had been through in their first year of marriage. As they stood, they melted into each others arms and settled in closer as the moment went on. A small tear rolled down Mary’s cheek as Aiden whispered to her. Only they know what was said in that moment, but it was so special to see them connect so intimately in such a beautiful place.
As we drove down the road to leave the session, we caught the gorgeous sunset. I signaled them to pull over so we could snap a few more shots. It was beautiful! I’m so glad we pulled over to capture this light.
Thank you so much, Mary & Aiden, for this wonderful time together for your autumn anniversary session!
